Lois J. Thurk, age 94, Oshkosh, formerly of Sugar Bush, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
She was born on December 9, 1927, in Neenah the daughter of the late Earl and Doris (Jeffers) Linberg. She was united in marriage on June 28, 1946, to Richard W. Thurk in Sugar Bush-they enjoyed 70 years of marriage together. He preceded her in death in 2017. Together they owned and operated Thurk’s Tavern in Sugar Bush for 33 years. She then worked for the Clintonville School District lunch program for 13 years retiring in 1992. Lois was well known for her made from scratch home cooked food-especially her potato puffs. She loved spending her time reading, crocheting dishcloths and going to the casinos.
She is survived by her children: Nancy Schwartz; Pamela (John) Swinford; Jack (Cathy) Thurk; daughter-in-law, Karen Hilker; grandchildren: Danna (Chris) Carpenter; Richard Schwartz (special friend Jody); Jeff Schwartz; Michael (Liz) Schreiber; John Jr. (Kimberly) Swinford; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Emma, Kiera, Courtney, Kien, Kaelen, Cooper, Conlan, Ryleigh, Cecelia, Nicholas, Amber, Dray, Cole, Tre, Savannah, and Paige; great-great-grandchildren, Kylie, Arion, and Willow; brother, Robert (Adele) Linberg and sisters-in-law, Carol Linberg and Judy Linberg. Lois is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dick; son James; two brothers, Tom Linberg and Jack Linberg, a son-in-law Dave Schwartz, and a stillborn grandson.
Funeral services for Lois will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Sugar Bush on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Rodrigue officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the New Maple Creek Cemetery, Town of Maple Creek.
Lois was a kind-hearted person and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
