DeWolfe, Jean

Jean G. DeWolfe was born August 3, 1930 to Albert and Evelyn (LaPorte) Kysely in South Milwaukee.

Jean graduated from Shiocton High School in 1948. She attended St. Agnes School of Nursing for one year where she met her future mother-in-law. She married Harold E. DeWolfe at First Congregational Church in Shiocton. Harold preceded her in death on April 3, 2021, and she was reunited with the love of her life on October 3, 2022.
To many, Jean was known as the “Cookie Lady”. She had a passion for baking as she always called it “her therapy”. She never went to an appointment without a plate of cookies. If you stopped to visit you usually left with a plate of cookies and her saying “if they aren’t good, feed them to the birds”. She loved country music and especially her Alan Jackson. Till the very end there wasn’t a thrift store that could be passed up for a “good deal”. She also enjoyed writing letters and sending cards to friends and family.

Jean will be sadly missed by her children: Harry, David (Joan), Jeff (Lori), and Mary (Bradley) Staats; her grandchildren: Ryan, Austin, Jacci, Clint (Megan), Jeff, Travis, Lindsay and Kelsey DeWolfe; step-grandchildren: Andrew and Brian Staats; sister-in-law, Karen (Ray) Shuma; 6 nieces, nephews and their spouses; special friends, Mary Sellin and Jeanna LaFollette.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Harold; an infant son, Clayton Albert; sister, Marilyn Kysely; brother-in-law, Don DeWolfe; and sister-in-law, Louise DeWolfe.

According to Jean’s wishes, no services will be held. She was laid to rest at Fort Howard Memorial Park in Green Bay.
