Moericke, John

John C. Moericke, age 83 of Waupaca (formerly of Clintonville) passed away Saturday evening, October 8, 2022, at ThedaCare Medical Center, Wild Rose.

John Carl Moericke was born at home on February 19, 1939 in the Town of Dupont, Waupaca County, to Harvey and Anna (Fritz) Moericke. He graduated from Marion High School in 1958 and then served with the Clintonville National Guard for a few years. John was united in marriage on September 26, 1959, to Geneva A. Zeinert at Zion Lutheran Church, Manawa. During his working career, he was a dairy farmer, a truck driver, and a silo salesman for many years.

John was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Marion, where he had served on the finance council. He was an active member and former Governor of the Clintonville Loyal Order of the Moose – Lodge 1502. John was also a proud member of the American Legion Post 63, Clintonville. His other interests included spending time outdoors and deer hunting. He often enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers, and Badger football games.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Geneva; and three children, Bart (Ann) Moericke of Clintonville, Brenda (Jon Budke) Mehlberg of Clintonville, and Bridget Richter of Waupaca. There are 4 grandchildren: Malissa (John) Schwersenska, Bret (Terri) Moericke, Brian (Katherine) Moericke, and Morgan Richter. There are 4 great grandchildren: Reiley, Macey, Dixie, and Carter. There is one sister, Joyce Utecht of Wausau, and one brother, Gale (Jeanie) Moericke of Quinlan, TX. He is further survived by in-laws, Marvin (Joan) Zeinert, Caroline (Herbert) Lucht, Sally (Sonny Beyer) Schmitt, Dave Hanson, and Irene Zeinert; two Godchildren, Bonnie Bruce and Herb Lucht Jr.; and many other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Michael Mehlberg; three sisters, Jean (Elroy) Raduchel, Dawn (Norman) Yaeger, and Orley (Edward) Sparks; one brother, Gerald (Geri Brass) Moericke; and a brother-in-law, Edward Kufahl. He is further preceded by in-laws, Kenneth (Frances) Zeinert, Eugene Zeinert, Barry Kircher, Geraldine (Butch Vetter) Hanson, and Elaine Ploetz.

Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 13th at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Marion. Rev. Lois Graper will officiate and inurnment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery, Marion. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, is assisting the family.
