Soccer teams often deal with cold temperatures, wind and rain, especially this time of year.

Clintonville and Waupaca faced all three Oct. 13 in their North Eastern Conference matchup.

Both teams had a few opportunities to score, but Waupaca’s Zack Mondello and Clintonville’s Caleb Moore stopped every shot on goal and the teams ended up in a scoreless tie.

Both teams had a bye in the first round of the WIAA state tournament and will open the postseason on Thursday, Oct. 20.

Waupaca received a No. 4 seed in Division 3 and will host No. 5 Mosinee, while the Truckers are a No. 11 seed in Division 4 and will head to St. Mary Catholic to face the sixth-seeded Zephyrs. Both games will start at 7 p.m.

Also, No. 6 New London will head to Minocqua Oct. 20 to play third-seeded Lakeland at 7 p.m. in a Division 3 regional semifinal.

Hortonville will open tournament play at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, as the seventh-seeded Polar Bears head to Wisconsin Rapids to face the second-seeded Red Raiders in Division 1.
