Hebbring, John

John H. Hebbring — husband, father, friend passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at his home in Waupaca, WI.

He was born on April 3, 1941 in Milwaukee to the late Howard and Evelyn (Fischer) Hebbring. He attended Menomonee Falls High School and went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. On August 5, 1967 he married the love of his life and his best friend Karen (Laudert) Hebbring. They spent the next 55 years together building a life full of family and friends. They welcomed and raised three beautiful children. Mark—married to Sheryl Shushan, Scott—married to Kris, and Laura—married to Mike. Once John was finished working at Fleet Farm’s Corporate Office for 30 years, he and Karen built their dream house on the Waupaca Chain O’ Lakes. Their home was the setting of many parties, family reunions, a family wedding, and grandchildren splashing in the lake. His grandchildren Natalie, Tesha, Emma, and Jon will miss his presence at their many sporting and music events.

When he wasn’t spending time with his family you could find him hiding out in his workshop, making beautiful wooden pieces of art, playing a mean game of bridge, rolling a bowling ball against his grandson and son-in-law, golfing with his Florida and Wisconsin buddies, tinkering with his old cars, dreaming of building a log cabin, or hunting (eating and drinking) with the Rummies. John believed in giving back to his local community and was actively involved in the Waupaca Chain O’ Lakes Association Board and the Waupaca Chain O’ Lake District Board.

He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by so many people. His wife: Karen, children: Mark (Sheryl Shushan) Hebbring; Laura (Mike) Schlaak; and Scott (Kris) Hebbring; grandchildren: Natalie, Tesha, Emma, and Jon; sister: Mary (Tom) Patza; brothers: Donald (Mary) Hebbring; Alan (Delana) Hebbring; Larry (Marcia) Hebbring; sisters-in-laws: Carol Hebbring and Romay Rupnow; other relatives and friends.
