Iola man charged with battery

Yenter

Suspect accused of breaking woman’s jaw

Jerome J. Yenter, 54, Iola, is charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, substantial battery and false imprisonment as acts of domestic abuse.

According to the criminal complaint, a town of Harrison woman came into the Alban General Store on State Highway 66 east of Rosholt on Oct. 13.

She told a clerk that her boyfriend beat her and she needed an ambulance.

A Portage County deputy spoke with the woman while she was in the ambulance.

She said she and Yenter had been arguing before she went to bed. She woke up while Yenter was beating her, the complaint says.

Yenter allegedly threw her against a wall before she was able to get away.

She suffered a broken jaw and a lacerated cheek, the complaint says.

Yenter was being held in custody on a $20,000 cash bond. The bond was amended to $2,500 on Nov. 11 and Ynter was subsequently released.
