Manawa man accused of crashing car through garage door while resisting

Jeremyah D. Zander, 26, Manawa, is in Waupaca County jail on a $25,000 cash bond, facing multiple felony charges.

Zander is charged with two counts of second-degree reckless endangerment, two counts of felony bail jumping, one count each of failure to comply with an officer while being taken into custody, resisting an officer and misdemeanor bail jumping.

On Oct. 21, Waupaca County Detective Sgt. Clint Schroeder, two deputies and two case workers with Child Protective Services (CPS) went to a home on County Trunk N in the town of Little Wolf to follow up on a complaint involving Zander.

The deputies and CPS workers parked their vehicles in the driveway in front of a pole shed with three overhead doors.

While deputies rang the doorbell and knocked on the door, a CPS worker saw someone open a service door to the shed, then return inside.

According to the criminal complaint, deputies entered the shed and saw Zander in a utility-terrain vehicle removing a black object from the glove box.

They drew their firearms and ordered Zander to show his hands.

Zander reportedly ran to another part of the shed and deputies heard the sound of a revving engine.

Deputies then saw Zander drive a pick-up in reverse and smash through a closed overhead door.

“It completely destroyed the entire garage door,” the complaint says.

Zander reportedly barely missed hitting one of the squad cars. The CPS workers had to move out of the way to avoid being hit.

He sped away from the scene.

Zander’s mother told the deputies he was using drugs again and kept the drugs in a small black bag in the UTV’s glove box, according to the complaint.
