New London girls top Seymour

Steingraber hits six threes in win

Lizzie Steingraber had the hot hand for the New London girls’ basketball team in the Bulldogs’ Bay Conference opener.

The senior connected on six three-pointers – including five in the first half – and scored a game-high 20 points Dec. 6 in a 49-36 win over Seymour.
New London led 28-17 at halftime behind Steingraber’s 17 points and seven from Shelby Glodowski.

Heather Krause’s basket cut New London’s lead to 29-19 early in the second half, but the Bulldogs responded with a 15-3 run to put the game out of reach.

The Thunder scored the game’s final nine points to erase a 22-point deficit.

Jensen Mix scored 12 of her 13 points in the second half for the Bulldogs, while Keira VandeHei led Seymour with 12 points.

New London improved to 4-1 with the win and will host Green Bay East at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9.
