New Meaning in the New Year

Patrick Wood

Dear Reader,

Another year will soon be in the rear view mirror. We are approaching the celebration of New Year’s Eve and then a day of relaxing on New Year’s Day watching football games, eating leftovers from the previous night’s celebration, and perhaps sampling the cookies and chocolates still hanging around and beckoning.

Beyond that is the ritual of making New Year’s resolutions to somehow, if possible, become our best selves by making changes in the year to come. Such resolutions might include losing weight or drinking less. At the same time, we can look deeper inside to assess those innate qualities we have not yet developed, such as patience, humility, and kindness.

Whether you’re on the right track or not, here’s a chance for renewal, a chance to try again. Go, do it!
