Bulldogs take two in Clintonville

New London sweeps Truckers

New London’s girls’ and boys’ basketball teams headed to Clintonville Dec. 29 and returned home with a pair of nonconference wins.

The girls topped the Truckers 62-36 and the boys overcame a 12-point halftime deficit in a 66-58 win.

The Bulldogs led by as many as 13 points in the first half and led 29-19 at the break.

Clintonville cut the deficit to 37-32 on a pair of baskets from Natalie Sunita, but New London responded with a 17-2 run to put the game out of reach.

Only two players finished the game in double figures. Sunita led all players with 18 points, while Lizzie Steingraber led New London with 16.

The Truckers led 31-19 at halftime, but New London outscored the home team 47-27 in the second half.

Jonah Schlueter and Ian Oberstadt combined to score 34 points in the second half and led the Bulldogs with 24 and 17 points, respectively. Jack Yaeger led Clintonville with 18 points and Lucas Ferg and Kade Rosenow added 10 each.
