Two incumbents will not seek re-election to the Waupaca School Board on April 4, 2023.

Board President Stephen Johnson, who has been on the board since 2008, and Pat Phair, whose first term began in 2014, filed notice of non-candidacy.

Board member Molly McDonald will be on the ballot. She was appointed in August 2022 to fill Mark Polebitski’s vacant seat.

McDonald is a lifelong resident of Waupaca, the mother of three students and a former student herself in the Waupaca School District. She is vice president of quality control at WOW Logistics in Appleton.

Two other candidates running for this year’s three seats on the school board are Bob Adams and Lori Chesnut.

A Waupaca resident since 2004, Adams is senior pastor at Radiant Fellowship and executive director of Foundations for Life. He has three children who attend Waupaca schools.

Chesnut has served on Waupaca Common Council since 2015, plus two more years in 1997-99. A local resident since 1973, she retired from the Waupaca County Department of Health and Human Services where she worked in its Children and Families Unit.
