Warhawks keep T-Birds winless

Rice leads W-F boys to victory

The season is almost half over and the Iola-Scandinavia boys’ basketball team is still looking for its first win.

The Thunderbirds came up short in its recent Central Wisconsin Conference-East games with Weyauwega-Fremont and Shiocton.

Weyauwega-Fremont handed the T-Birds a 70-39 loss Jan. 6, while Shiocton picked up a 75-50 win Jan. 3.

Weyauwega-Fremont 70, Iola-Scandinavia 39

Jaden Rice had the hot hand for the Warhawks, as he scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the first half.

The Warhawks led 38-15 at halftime and led by as many as 40 points in the second half.

Brayden Arndt added 17 points for Weyauwega-Fremont, while Ian Koss led Iola-Scandinavia with 14.

Shiocton 75, Iola-Scandinavia 40

The T-Birds trailed 35-16 at halftime before Shiocton scored 40 points in the second half.

Koss and Parker Gullixon led Iola-Scandinavia with 19 and 14 points, respectively, while Dawson Schmidt scored 31 to lead the Chiefs.

The T-Birds will head to Bonduel Thursday, Jan. 12, for a CWC-East game with the Bears.
