Gorman leads Manawa to win

I-S boys come up short again

The Iola-Scandinavia boys’ basketball team is still looking for its first win of the season following a 51-48 loss to Manawa Jan. 17.

Manawa took an early lead in the game and outscored the Thunderbirds 29–18 in the first half. Nathan Gorman scored 11 of his game-high 21 points to lead the Wolves in the opening half, while Parker Gullixon led the T-Birds with six.

Iola-Scandinavia then outscored the home team 30-22 in the second half.

Carter Melum’s two free throws with 6:57 remaining in the game gave the T-Birds their first lead of the game. Iola-Scandinavia also led 46-44 with three minutes to go.

Gullixon led Iola-Scandinavia with 17 points and Ian Koss added 12. Tanner Nienhaus scored 12 for Manawa.

Both teams have Central Wisconsin Conference-East home games scheduled for Friday, Jan. 27. The T-Birds will host Wittenberg-Birnamwood, while Menominee Indian will head to Manawa.
