Gerald “Jerry” E. Zeichert, age 81, of Fremont, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023, surrounded by his family at his home in Fremont.

He was born on July 28, 1941 in New London, WI, the son of the late Albert and Margaret (Bork) Zeichert. On August 5, 1961, Jerry married Lorraine Smith at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fremont. Jerry worked as a licensed cheesemaker for Wohlt Cheese in Fremont for 61 years before retiring.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially musky fishing; camping up north, snowmobiling, watching sports, especially baseball, on TV and attending the sporting events of his grandchildren.  He also served on the Fremont Village Board and the Fremont Fire Department for many years.

Jerry was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fremont, where he served as the treasurer for many years, and also served as an usher and on many committees in the church.  

Jerry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lorraine; three daughters, Barb (Bill) Buchholz, Greenville; Patti (Mike) Beilfuss, Fremont and Kim (Kirk) Delwiche, Fremont; his son, Chuck (Jodi) Zeichert, Weyauwega; a son-in-law, Steve (Julie) Bellile, New London; 12 grandchildren,  Stephanie (Jered) Wilson, Brittany (TC) Bartol, Nick (Caitlin) Koch, Tyler (Meg) Buchholz, Christi(Jake)Gabrilska; Mitchel (Jill) Beilfuss, Matthew Zeichert, Carlie(, Beau)De Santis; Lauren(Jordan)Akey, Bryce Akey, Connor and Riley Delwiche; 14 great-grandchildren, Morgan,Daisy, and Danny Wilson; Brody and Jack Bartol, Stella, Charlie and Theodore Koch, Miles and Emmie Gabrilska Jordyn Beilfuss and Baby Beilfuss due in February; Oliver and Gabriel Haase;  his sister, Marlene (Jim) Steinberg, Oconomowoc, WI; a brother in-law, Joe (Lynn) Smith, Greenville a sister-in-law, Sandy  Smith, Weyauwega; nieces nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Jerry was preceded in death by  his daughter, Jean Bellile, a son-in-law, Ryan  Akey, two grandsons Eric Buchholz and Ryan Zeichert and his brother-in-law, John Smith.  

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 107 Tustin Rd., Fremont.  Rev. Mark Drengler will officiate. Burial will be in East Bloomfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Lewin Funeral Home on Thursday, January 26 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Friday, at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
