Petit, Michael L.

Michael Lee Petit, age 68 of New London, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

He was born on March 26, 1954, son of the late Wilmer and Eunice (Beschta) Petit.

For those of us who loved Mike knew he went all-in on the things and people he loved. In his younger years, it was fast-pitch softball, wrestling, football, bowling league, farming, and spending his days and nights laughing with his very best friends (you know who you are). He loved his ’62 Corvette and the deep friendships he created in his Corvette Club; showcasing his beautiful pride and joy at car shows and talking to other collectors was one of his favorite pastimes. He was an avid sports fan – he loved all things Badgers, Packers, Brewers, and NASCAR. And if his home team was losing, everyone – perhaps even the neighbors – could hear him yelling at the TV. He was the crowd jokester, storyteller, and connector – he loved making people laugh, creating relationships (he knew everyone), and having the last line.

Family was at the very top of his list. When he met and fell in love with Patti, the two of them created an instant family; his four children and his wife were his true pride and joy. Later, when his grandchildren came, his heart just expanded. His Three Stooges shenanigans with the kids will live in their hearts forever.

He will be forever missed by the love of his life, Patti; their four children – Jeremy (Jennifer) Jeffers, Shanda (Bob) Stachurski, Sara (Brian) Montonati, Kyle (Rachel) Petit; his grandchildren who adored him – Kloie, Olivia, Violet, Ella, Sophie, Amelia, Eden, Miller, Stanley, and Archie; and his siblings Ron (Kathy) Petit, Judy (Mark) Fellers, and Steve (Bonnie) Petit.

He was preceded in death by his father Wilmer, his mother Eunice, and his brother Stan.

Funeral Mass for Mike will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating.

Visitation will be held at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Monday, from 4-8 p.m. and also at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
