Schuelke, Evelyn

Evelyn Jean Schuelke, age 94, of Manawa, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at ThedaCare Hospital in Waupaca.

She was born in the Town of Little Wolf, daughter of the late Herbert and Evelyn May (Lawton) Wegener. Evelyn was a life-long resident of Manawa, graduating from Little Wolf High School. On October 27, 1950 she was united in marriage to Harold D. Schuelke at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1991. Evelyn was a life-long lover of horses which influenced her to help in establishing the rodeo in Manawa in the late 1950’s. In all the years of the rodeo, she only missed a few performances. She was also a founding member of the Rodeo City Riders. She was the number 1 fan of the Sons of the Pioneers and was a special friend of Trail Boss Tommy Nallie and other members of the Pioneers. Another hobby of Evelyn’s was her leather work – making wallets, purses and belts. She was a member of Faith Community Church in Waupaca.

She is survived by her children: Donald H. (Deborah) Schuelke, David L. (Cheryl) Schuelke, Carol J. (John) Mauser; grandchildren: David R. (Tamara) Schuelke, Daniel L. (Janessa) Schuelke, Shannon D. Bullard, Mike Mauser; great-grandchildren: Aleia Price, Mark Mauser, Madison Mauser; great-great-grandchild Marshall Mauser. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert (Millie) Wegener, and a son-in-law, Jerry Tessen.

The funeral service for Evelyn will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Community Church (N2541 County K) in Waupaca with Rev. Josh Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery, Town of Little Wolf. A visitation for Evelyn will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Life Celebration Center of Manawa and also at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Faith Community Church.
