Moe, James

James (Jim) A. Moe, age 97, passed away peacefully at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin, on Monday, February 6, 2023.

James was born October 24, 1925, to Oscar and Hannah Moe in the town of Scandinavia. He married his wife of 70 years, Elaine Wohlrabe, on November 15, 1947 in Symco, Wisconsin.

Jim is survived by his six children: Helen (Paul) Wagabaza of Middleton, WI, Sharon (James) Cook of House Springs, MO, Gary Moe of Holmen, WI, Nancy (Joseph) Polakowski of Hartford, WI, Dennis (Terri) Moe of Oshkosh, WI, and Carrie (Greg) Mumford of Fond du Lac, WI; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elaine; a sister, Helen; a brother, Gene Moe; a daughter-in-law, Diana Moe; and a great-grandson, Ethan Moe.

Jim was a long-time member of the Waupaca Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He enjoyed reading and studying his Bible and sharing his faith with others in the community. He spent most of his life in the Scandinavia and Waupaca area. Jim worked for the Soo Line railroad for many years, and then drove school bus for the Waupaca School district. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards, writing poetry and jingles, watching and playing baseball… everyone wanted him on their team! He also loved travel, even a day-trip to view the colorful change of seasons.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, E3273 Apple Tree Lane, Waupaca, WI 54981. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM to be followed by the memorial service. You may also attend by Zoom Videoconference

The family wishes to express appreciation to the Wisconsin Veterans Home for the care they provided for both our parents during the years they resided there. We also appreciate the efforts of Promedica Hospice Care Personnel.
