Diedrich “Speedy” Bastar, age 84 of Waupaca, WI passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 after a long courageous battle with lymphoma.
He was born on August 11, 1938; son of the late Virginia (Didrickson) Bastar in Neenah, WI. On August 15, 1959 he married his sweetheart, Sandra Krock in Neenah, WI. He worked for Kimberly Clark as a Mill Worker for 40 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, happy hour and golfing. Speedy was a member of the AmVets Post 13 and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Speedy is survived by his wife, Sandy Bastar of Waupaca; his children, Penney (Bill) Frank of Waupaca; Scott (Janene) Bastar of Pine River; Jody (Chris) Hornes of Menasha; Jeff (Sue) Bastar of Weyauwega; grandchildren, Shane, Christopher, Kayla, Amy, Maddy, Bryce, Brandon, five great-grandchildren; sister, Donna (Keith) Zuleger, special cousin, Pete Koerwitz, special friend, Chuck Webb, also many other relatives and friends. Speedy was preceded in death by his special uncle, Elmer DeGroot, who taught him how to be a great dad.
