Waupaca County sheriff’s report Feb. 19

• Feb. 20 – A Manawa woman on Nicolai Road reported being defrauded out of $2,600 through an email and the scammers keep calling her and messing with her computer.

• Feb. 20 – A Manawa woman on Symco Road reported that one week before she was attacked by a dog. She was not bitten but her dog was. She did not go to the vet.

• Feb. 20 – A Weyauwega caller on Lake Street reported someone attempted to break into the house as the bottom door lock was damaged.

• Feb. 21 – A New London woman on State Highway 54 reported her husband has been yelling at her for the past three days. She wanted to pack her stuff in the truck and leave but he would not allow her.

• Feb. 21 – A detective from the Ashland County Sheriff Department in Ohio requested help locating a Waupaca County man in regard to a fraud investigation.

• Feb. 21 – An Iola man on Brining Road reported he was receiving threatening and harassing text messages from a former coworker.

• Feb. 21 – Archangel Caregivers reported a man made threatening comments to his wife. “If something bad were to happen to you, police are going to have to get involved,” he said. The comment was directed to his wife.

• Feb. 21 – A Waupaca caller on Joann Lane reported his ex-fiancé’s husband tried attacking him during a child exchange. He sais the man grabbed him by the throat. The caller took his baseball bat from his truck to defend himself.

• Feb. 21 – A Waupaca female on Union Street reported a male got out of his vehicle and was yelling and hitting someone.

• Feb. 21 – A Manawa man on Beatrice Lane reported his child texted his mother stating, “I [expletive] hate this house. I want to kill myself. I never want to see you guys again.” The child had access to weapons but did not mention using any of them.

• Feb. 22 – An anonymous caller requested a welfare check on three children. A man was smoking methamphetamine in the presence of the children and he has violent weapon charges against him.

• Feb. 22 – An unknown caller reported his daughter was getting harassed at school. A boy was asking her to do things she didn’t want to do and was calling her names and pushing her into things.

• Feb. 22 – A Waupaca man on Waupaca Street reported a woman was having hallucinations and said she was trying to kill herself. She was headed to Weyauwega in a black Buick and was punching herself in the face before she left.

• Feb. 22 – A female caller reported a son sent his mother a vague text message impersonating a New London police officer saying that he was in a bad car accident on State Highway 41.

• Feb. 23 – A Clintonville woman reported a previous tenant was trespassing onto a property and was possibly taking packages from other tenants.

• Feb. 23 – A New London caller on Spring Street reported someone was taking packages out of her mailbox. An Amazon package went missing the week before.

• Feb. 23 – A Weyauwega caller on State Highway 110 requested a welfare check on her granddaughter whose father was in prison and whose mother died. The grandmother was worried about the people she was staying with.

• Feb. 23 – An Ogdensburg caller on County Trunk B reported a man was making suicidal comments and had a gun. He left in a black BMW 15 minutes before. Whereabouts unknown.

• Feb. 23 – A female caller requested a welfare check on her sister whose boyfriend punched her in the ribs. She did not need an ambulance but she was afraid.

• Feb. 23 – Tomorrow’s Children of Waupaca reported a boy having a mental health crisis ran away into the woods.

• Feb. 24 – A Waupaca woman on Western Avenue reported a man was harassing her by visiting her home and workplace. She asked him to stop and he refuses. He also follows her. They have a child together.

• Feb. 24 – A Clintonville man on County Trunk DD works as an over-the-road truck driver. He came home and found his snow shovel missing and a Gatorade bottle was sitting on his hot tub.

• Feb. 24 – An Ogdensburg man on Water Street requested a welfare check on his children. His oldest son told him the house where they were staying had no heat. The caller was worried his youngest child might freeze overnight.

• Feb. 24 – A Waupaca woman on Bow and Arrow Drive reported a car pulled into their driveway and got stuck and was spinning its tires. Her husband went out to talk to the driver. The driver’s speech was slurred and he appeared intoxicated. He asked them not to call the police.

• Feb. 24 – A cell phone caller reported there was an intoxicated 29-year-old woman in a garage who was unable to get into her house.

• Feb. 24 – A Weyauwega caller on Haire Road reported he gave a friend a ride home. At the residence, a woman in her late 20s or early 30s approached him and was hysterical. She said she was kidnapped and assaulted and wanted a police officer.

• Feb. 24 – The Waupaca County Highway Department reported a red van in the ditch. A man was passed out behind the wheel .

• Feb. 25 – A female caller requested a welfare check on a male having a mental breakdown. “He’s just making no sense,” she said. He had a history of depression, was treated for it and he did not mention doing any kind of self harm.

• Feb. 25 – A Weyauwega man on Lake Street reported his neighbor was harassing him about parking on the street.

•Feb. 25 – A New London man on Meartz Road reported he was kicked out of a bar and was choked. He was very intoxicated would be outside in a red Silverado. He also said prostitution was going on there.

• Feb. 25 – A Weyauwega woman on Summit Street reported that her dog was barking and when she opened the front door, a person wearing all black ran off down her driveway heading west.

• Feb. 26 – A juvenile caller from Manawa reported two people were fighting. They came home from the bar and started yelling at each other. The caller could not see them and was calling from his or her bedroom. Law enforcement had been there previously for a domestic situation.

• Feb. 26 – A New London woman on County Trunk T reported she has had a stalker for the past three years. She said she found human footprints her house that appeared around 10 p.m. the night before.

• There were an average number of deer-auto collisions during this period. A handful of residents called in controlled burns. A Waupaca caller reported some cows running loose. An anonymous caller reported a dog with no food or water and with pus coming out of its eye. A cell phone caller reported a snowmobile was on fire on a trail. During the snowstorm of Feb. 22-23, there were many calls about motor vehicles crashes and vehicles in the ditch. A jack-knifed semi was reported. A Clintonville man reported his neighbor was plowing chunks of snow into the road making it even more hazardous.
