Johnson, Mary Ruth

Mary Ruth Johnson, age 95 of Clintonville passed away Friday morning March 10, 2023 surrounded by family at the ThedaCare Medical Center in Shawano.

Mary Ruth Holmes was born on June 13, 1927 as the daughter of the late Frederick and Ruth (Rohrer) Holmes. She graduated Valedictorian of the Class of 1945 from Clintonville High School and later graduated from Lawrence University in 1949 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. On June 23, 1951 Mary Ruth was united in marriage to Dwain “Chub” Johnson at the United Methodist Church in Clintonville. The couple resided in Shawano prior to moving back to Clintonville in 1960. They were respected members of the Clintonville community and faithful members of the United Methodist Church in town, where Mary Ruth sang in the choir for many years. She enjoyed playing Bridge with friends, doing cross-stitch, playing piano, trips to Hawaii, and also traveling to Arkansas in the fall. She enjoyed sports; but only the spectator variety! She and Chub were long time fans and supporters of the Clintonville Truckers, and she always made sure to watch the Packers. Mary Ruth’s life centered around her faith and her family. She supported her husband in everything he did and looked forward to being with her family; especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include:
Her Daughters: Sarah Frankowski and Anne (Tim Pluger) Long.
Grandchildren: Paul (Lindsey) Frankowski, Scott (Nazy Heydarian) Frankowski, Bonnie (Jon) Kalb, Kathy (Nicholle Kuhn) Long, and Kelly (Shane) Schabo.

Great-Grandchildren: Quaid, Quincy, Jasmine, Myla, Tavin, Cooper, Lukas, Cody, Autumn, Reid, Shiloh, and Razi.
Great-Great-Grandchildren: Owen and Oaklynn.
Numerous other relatives including her nephew: Terry (Diane) Johnson.

Mary Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dwain “Chub” Johnson in 2012, a brother Samuel (Yvonne) Holmes, a sister Barbara (Glenn) Giersbach, and brother-in-laws Howard (Wanda) Johnson and Jim Johnson.

Mary Ruth’s memorial service will be held Friday March 17, 2023 at 11am at the United Methodist Church in Clintonville with Rev. Diana Ziegler officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10am until the time of service. Mary Ruth’s family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Aster Assisted Living in Clintonville for all of their care and support during Mary Ruth’s time there.
