Lois Marie Mathewson, age 100, passed away March 17, 2023.

Lois was born on December 30, 1922 in the township of Royalton, Waupaca County, the daughter of Thomas and Lila (Marcey) Hobbs. She was a graduate of New London High School, class of 1940. On August 4, 1950, Lois was united in marriage to John “Jack” Mathewson. She was an employee of Simmons Juvenile Furniture for 40 years, retiring in 1986. Lois was an avid Packer fan and loved her accordion and piano music. She also enjoyed cooking, crafts and watching the birds that frequented her back yard feeder. Her fondest memories were times spent with her son and husband on vacations to various parts of northern Wisconsin and their cottage on Shawano Lake. Lois had a friendly smile for everyone she met. Sending cards to friends and relatives on special occasions gave her great enjoyment.

Lois is survived by her devoted nephew and caregiver, Pete Mathewson, who also took care of many household duties as she aged. Also surviving her are other nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. A special thanks to niece Sandy Magolski for love and support.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; her son, Tommy; five sisters, Ina Huebner, Lorraine Handschke, June Buckholz and Janet Stiebs, as well as Eula Edler and brothers, Robert and Calvin Hobbs.

Lois loved all kinds of music! One of her favorite songs was, “Beyond the Sunset”.

The Funeral Service for Lois will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London with Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.

Thank you “Gunner”, for your love and being a part of my life ~ Love, Pete
