Ryan Peterson is the Manawa School District’s new district and business administrator.

Peterson is currently the principal at Appleton North High School and is looking forward to getting to know Manawa’s students and staff.

“I am excited to lean into the daily conversations with everyone and learn as much as I can,” he said. “Being present and engaging with all stakeholders is critical to learn about the strengths and opportunities for improvement within the district.”

Peterson has been a teacher, coach and administrator since 2009 and will begin his duties in Manawa July 1.

“I’m confident we will build strong partnerships and a positive school culture that will move the district forward,” he said. “There is much to do this summer, but I cannot wait to welcome students and staff back to school for the 2023-24 school year.”

Peterson and his wife Noelle have four children.

“My family is the most important part of my life and I love spending all of my spare time with them,” he said. “My wife and I are busy encouraging them to stay curious and find their passion. They are involved in lots of different athletics and activities, which keeps us very busy.”

In his spare time, Peterson enjoys traveling and the beach.

“I am also a big sports fan and only root for teams from Wisconsin,” he said. “As a season ticket holder, I love the Packers.”

Manawa School Board President Sondra Reierson said the board was impressed with the number and high quality of candidates for the position and said the vetting and interview process was extensive and thorough.

“The Board did its due diligence throughout this selection process and we could not be happier with the outcome. Mr. Peterson is a great fit for Manawa in the short term and long term,” Reierson said. “We know Mr. Peterson will bring great value to the educational experience of our students, the work experience of our staff and the brand of the School District of Manawa.”

Peterson will replace Melanie Oppor, who is retiring at the end of the 2022-23 school year.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Manawa School District forward,” he said. “It will be an honor to work alongside the board of education as we serve the children, the staff and the community of our schools.”
