Michael D. Adams, age 64, of Waupaca, WI passed away on April 5, 2023 after a brief illness.
Born in Detroit, MI to Ruthanne and Frank Adams, he grew up in the surrounding suburbs. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy shortly after high school graduation and spent his career serving. As a decorated Chief Petty Officer, Michael graduated from Miramar (Top Gun) as an Air Traffic Controller, worked at Navel Space Command in Virginia and traveled the world with the Navy. Michael liked to say “A sailor belongs at sea.” He was happiest and at his best when he was out to sea and spent sixteen of his twenty-three years of service at sea.
He married Erika Zollinger in 1998. Five years later Michael retired from the Navy and he and Erika settled in western New York where Erika’s family lives. Olivia Adams was born a couple years later. Michael embraced fatherhood and absolutely adored Olivia. Along with being Olivia’s dad, Michael worked for Customs and Border Control in his retirement.
Michael is survived by his daughter Olivia Adams; his mother Ruthanne Thomas; and his sister Carole Johnson. He was predeceased by his father Frank Adams.

As Michael wished, he will be buried at sea. A private memorial will be held in Waupaca for immediate family. There will also be a Celebration of Life in South Dayton, NY on a date to be determined. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
