Since joining the Clintonville Police Department, K-9 officer Thor and his handler, Officer Cody Rollin have been busy helping remove drugs from the streets.

Thor was ceremonially sworn in at the April 11 Clintonville Common Council meeting.

In addition, Rollin provided the council with information about the police department’s K-9 officer program, and an update on how Thor has performed since he joined the police department in October.

Since Thor joined the Clintonville Police Department, Thor has been deployed 36 times. Of those deployments, 34 of them were for detection, while the other two were for patrol deployments.

Rollin said patrol deployments are for tracking. An example of this was when Thor was deployed after the armed robbery at Kwik Trip in Clintonville in February.

Since joining the force, Thor has helped seize:

• More than 64 items of drug paraphernalia,

• 260 grams of marijuana,

• 43 grams of methamphetamine,

• 11 grams of cocaine,

• 42 grams of ecstasy.

“For our area, that’s quite a bit,” Rollin said.

He added that the majority of the drugs seized have been from people who don’t reside in Clintonville, but from people traveling through the city.

“We’ve been very productive,” Rollin said. “Again, we are blessed in this community to have people donate and do fundraisers to allow us to have an asset like the K-9 program.”

In addition to patrolling with the Clintonville Police Department, other local police departments have called on Thor to help them.

In addition to being utilized by the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department, Rollin and Thor have been utilized by area police departments, including Shawano, Pulaski, and Manawa.

“If they need a dog, we’re always here,” Rollin said.

In addition to being on patrol, Rollin and Thor also attend special events in the community.

“We love having him and love being able to share him with the community to show what we’re doing,” Rollin said.
