Galen David Heier, aged 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Bethany Home in Waupaca, Wisconsin.

He was born on May 7, 1941, to the late John Heier Jr. and Eunice Winchell. Galen honorably served his country in the Army.

Galen was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Carol and Bonnie, and his brother-in-law Ken Much. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Kenneth and Evelyn Much.

On March 14, 1964, Galen married the love of his life, JoAnn Much, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca, WI. They shared a beautiful journey together. Galen’s memory will be cherished by his beloved wife, Joann Heier.

Galen was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and took great delight in supporting his team. He had a passion for country music and enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Brewers play. Galen’s interests truly reflected his love for his community and its culture.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bethany Home for their dedicated care and support during Galen’s time there.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca for friends to pay their respects. A celebration of life will follow at 11:00 AM, where friends and loved ones will have the opportunity to share their memories and honor Galen’s life. Burial will take place at a later date at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI, where Galen will be laid to rest.

Galen will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his extended family, including his brother-in-law Jerrold Much, brother-in-law Wayne (Miralee) Much, brother-in-law Dennis (Brian) Much, great-nephew Rob May, nephew Chris Much, brother John (Bette) Heier, and sister Jeannie Cullen.

In this time of sorrow, may we find solace in the memories we shared with Galen and the impact he had on our lives. His legacy will forever be etched in our hearts. Services for Galen will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lions Club of Waupaca and the Waupaca Food Bank. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
