Jastromski, Connie

Connie Jastromski, 68, passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 8, 2023.

Born August 26, 1954 in Waupaca, WI, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Catherine (Nelson) Johnson.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years Robert (Bob), her son Allan (Marie), and her daugh-ters Jennifer (Stephen) Peeples and Tiffany, her grandchildren Matthew and Amanda Jastromski, Emma Catherine Peeples, and brother Donnie (Linda) Johnson as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Connie had worked for various places such as UWSP, Copps and the Farmer’s Home Administration. To keep tabs on the girls while they were in school, she took a position as the Administrative Secretary in the Amherst High School office. After 20+ years she retired from the school district. She then filled her free time working at Falcon One Stop and St. Maximillian Kolbe as the finance secretary. There was no organizational project or bookkeeping task too big or too small.

She was an avid sports fan. She was in her glory watching her girls play softball throughout their careers and keeping her own personal stat books. Later in life there was no better place to be than at the park to watch her grandkids play ball. Connie also spent her life listening to Bob yell at the TV as they watched countless Packers, Brewers and Badgers games.

Time with family was priceless. Sunday trips to her family’s farm to help with chores like making hay, followed by supper and countless hours of Sheepshead were the norm. Allan not only carried on the love of farming, his family has also carried on the Sunday tradition with visits to Bob and Connie’s home for ball, movies and supper. Connie’s favorites were when Matthew and Amanda would spend the night or she would get a FaceTime call from Emma Cate.

Connie’s Scandinavian roots ran deep. Jenny and Connie looked forward to Northland’s annual Norwegian dinner and the whole family loved when she made lefse and abelskiver.

Connie loved her flower beds in the summer (a trait passed to Tiffany), snowshoeing in the winter, going for walks and beating her instructors in challenges at FIRE. Fitness. Sewing, knitting and crocheting were also life-long hobbies; not only did she make her own wedding veil, she made Jenny’s newborn clothes, also aprons and blankets.

She also liked to travel. One of Connie’s most memorable trips was when her, Bob, Donnie and Linda, and the Peskie’s went on an Alaskan cruise together. She also took numerous trips each year to MN to go to IKEA with Tiffany and to SC to spend time with Steve, Jenny and Emma Cate.

She also had a love for her fur babies. Growing up on a farm she always had dogs and cats around. Bob and Connie’s favorite dog was Rex. Cats included Whiskers 1 & Whiskers 2, Bugsy, Max, and Mom’s loud-purring hot box Callie.

Connie was preceded in death by her son Robert William, her parents, her in-laws Alvin and Susan Jastromski, Ronald Jastrom¬ski, Art Rozga, Fred¬die Jastromski, Donald Sopa, Anita and Ronald Mrochinski, Gloria Jastromski, as well as nephews Tommy Kettleson and Brian Mrochinski.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Amherst with services to follow. Father Jerzy Rebacz will be officiating.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Kathy’s House, Froedtert Hospital and Compassus Hos¬pice Care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Kathy’s House in Milwaukee would be appreciated. This is where Connie and Bob stayed while she was undergoing treatment at Froedtert Hospital.
