Barbara Jean Prahl, age 84 of New London, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at ThedaCare New London.
Barb was born on August 3, 1939 in New London to the late Clifford and Florence (Lemke) White. She graduated from Washington High School class of 1957. Following graduation, Barb worked at Fox Valley Knitting Mills and The New London “Reminder’ for a few years. She married the love of her life, Kerran Prahl on September 24, 1960 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London and they were blessed with 63 years of marriage. Together Barb and Kerran owned and managed rental units. Barb was diligent in whatever she did and made a wonderful home for Kerran and herself. She was an animal lover. Barb would never turn away a stray animal in need, often “adopting” animals that would come to her. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, as well as crossword puzzles. For many years she honed her cooking and baking skills and loved hosting large gatherings of family and friends. Barb and Kerran enjoyed traveling with their RV. They toured the Southland and many other places, such as the Dakotas and Mt Rushmore. Barb was truly a kind and loving woman and will be cherished and missed forever.
Barb is survived by her husband, Kerran Prahl, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Florence White; her sister, Janice (Lee) Drews; her father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Florence Prahl and other extended family and friends.
The Graveside Service for Barb will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Bear Creek with Pastor Mark Tiefel.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, Barb’s wish is that donations be made to your local Humane Society.
