Marks, Robert

Robert J. (Bob) Marks, age 80, from Waupaca, WI, passed Sunday, October 8, 2023 after a courageous battle with COPD, Alzheimer’s and dementia.

He was born March 27, 1943 in Wauwatosa; son of Joseph and Marie (nee Krahn) Marks.

Throughout his life he enjoyed playing baseball, softball, bowling, golf, hunting, and horseshoes. He played on the Knights of Columbus softball team, including playing games with all his sons at one time.

From 1964 – 1970 Bob was enlisted with the Army Reserves. In 1967 he married Sally Drews and enjoyed 56+ years of marriage. In 1972 they moved from Ixonia to Waupaca, first farming and then working as a mason with the Bricklayers union for the next 27 years, retiring in 2005.

Bob was a dedicated member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, was an usher for many years, and enjoyed greeting everyone before mass.

Bob is survived by his wife Sally; his children Brenda (Larry) Will of Greenville, WI, Brian (Kay) Marks of Chippewa Falls, WI, Jeffrey (Bobbi) Marks of Avondale, PA, Leroy (Barbara) Marks of Plano, TX, and Patricia (John) Morada of Dublin, CA; two brothers Ronald Marks and Mark (Margaret) Marks; sister Lisa Marks; foster sister Evelyn (William) Macholl; and grandchildren Rylee and Carter Marks; Olivia, Avery, and Eden Marks; and Jacob, Lauren, and Grace Morada. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Shirley, Joanne, Charlotte, Diane, Rosemary (James) and Gail (Jeff) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was dedicated to his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Marie Marks; his son Gregory Marks; and his sister Judith (Harry) Hollatz.

The family would like to give special thanks to the at-home hospice staff from ThedaCare. We called, you came, we’re very thankful.

In lieu of flowers, Bob has asked that memorial donations be made to the Stair Crest Memory Care Unit in Muskego, WI, a non-profit senior living community not far from where he grew up and where his cousin is the campus administrator. A Funeral Mass for Bob will be on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca, WI. Father Xavier Santiago will preside. A visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, October 15th, from 3:30 – 7:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. A visitation will also be held again on Monday morning from 9:00 – 10:30 AM at the church. Burial will take place following the mass at St. Mary Magdalene Parish Cemetery. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
