
Brian R. Buettner, age 77, of Waupaca, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023.
He was born in Shawano on September 26, 1946, to Rudolph and Eleanor (Schuster) Buettner. On May 25, 1974, he was united in marriage to Diane Kraemer in Elkhart Lake, and together were blessed with two children.
After attending tech school, he began his career in IT at the Waupaca Foundry, retiring after 25+ years. He was an avid bowler and dart ball player, enjoyed cutting trees and making firewood and also driving tractor. While Diane enjoyed picking blackberries, he favored the blueberries. Watching the Badgers and Packers was also a favorite pastime and he also attended numerous games. He loved to play cards, especially Sheepshead. He and Diane enjoyed bus trips together and spending time with the grandkids. Brian was an active member of Victory Church and always enjoyed the men’s bible study breakfasts.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Diane; children: Brenda (Gary, Jr.) Mainz of Greenville and Craig (Margo) Buettner of Mequon; grandchildren: Lena, Cole and Aria; brothers: Bruce Buettner of Shawano and Don (Mary) Buettner of Rochester, MN; mother-in-law, LaVon Kraemer of Elkhart Lake; brother-in-law, John (Sharon) Kraemer of Manitowoc; sister-in-law, Karen (Don) Lisowe of Kiel; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Eleanor; father-in-law, Eugene Kraemer and brother-in-law, Allen Kraemer.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Victory Church, E3443 Appletree Ln, Waupaca. Rev. Philip Thompson officiated. Visitation was held Monday, October 16, 2023 from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home and again on Tuesday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the church. Burial took place at Lakeside Memorial Park.
