Larsen, Steven J.

Steven J. Larsen, of Menomonee Falls, passed away on June 5, 2024 at the age of 66 years old,

at his home, with his family by his side after an unexpected short battle with melanoma

Beloved husband of Janet (nee Donaldson) Larsen for 40 years. Loving father of Heidi (Dustin) Schwartz and Jack Larsen. Proud grandfather of Weston and Monroe Schwartz. Dear brother of Roger (Barb) Larsen and Gary (Annette) Larsen. Dear brother -in-law of Cathy (John) Sheski, Pat (Mitch) Cohen, Nancy Donaldson, and Tom (Penny) Donaldson. Steve will be dearly missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Cleo Larsen and his brothers Doug and Dennis Larsen, and brother-in-law Gary Donaldson.

Born in Iola and raised in the country on a farm on the northside of Waupaca, Steve gained his hard work ethic. He graduated from Waupaca High School in 1976 during which he worked at the Waupaca Foundry. He embarked on a journey to Austin, Texas working as a self-taught small engine mechanic at Lost Creek Country Club, back to Wisconsin at the Playboy Club in Lake Geneva to the Waupaca Country Club, along with taking courses at tech school. He and Janet settled down in Menomonee Falls where he went to work for 12yrs at Reinders and ultimately retired with 28yrs at North Hills Country Club in Menomonee Falls as the head equipment manager.

Steve and Janet were married June 11, 1983 enjoying each other’s company for 40 great years together. He was most proud of his children, adding in his son-in-law, and two grandchildren who were all the love of his life. He loved becoming a grandpa and you could always find him playing with his grandkids and teaching them to throw and hit a baseball.

Steve coached Little League softball and baseball and then the Menomonee Falls Falcons. Not only did he mentor numerous co-workers, he mentored his family and friends with his stories whether it be at the kitchen table, around a campfire, or at a baseball game while enjoying a Leinies Original.

Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, skiing, and road trips, but his greatest enjoyment was being at the farm in Waupaca. A simple man with a heart of gold “sitting on the porch watching the world go by.”

Visitation on Friday, June 21, 2024 at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, N84 W17937 Menomonee Ave in Menomonee Falls from 3:30PM until time of the Memorial Service at 6:00PM. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Waupaca, WI.
