American Legion Post turns 101

Posted

HORTONVILLE - The Hortonville American Legion Family celebrated the 101st birthday of Post 55 on March 14 at the Grand View Golf Club. Department/State Vice Commander Deb Thomas was the guest speaker for the event.
Post recognition was for 103% membership, accepted by Post Vice Bill Mockridge and Adjutant Kurt Sommers was recognized with a certificate of appreciation for bringing in nine new members and handling fundraising events. Hardtails of Hortonville catered in the meal.
The Legion Family color guard members support community sports events at the Hortonville High School. They do this honor over 100 times in a given year and are always looking to add new members to the Legion, the Auxiliary, and the Sons of the American Legion.
Post 55 meets the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m., typically at the lower level of the old Opera House at 312 W. Main St, Hortonville.
