The Amherst Falcons hosted the Spencer/Columbus Rockets, looking to improve their record to 6-0 this season.
Amherst took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter as running back Ayden Nerdahl took a carry 88 yards for a score.
However, the Rockets responded with a big play of their own, as a 73-yard touchdown pass made the score 7-6.
Soon after, Nerdahl scored his second touchdown of the game from two yards out, as Amherst marched down the field and scored on a two-point conversion to make the score 15-6.
Nerdahl scored his third touchdown in the second quarter with a 50-yard run, giving Amherst a 21-6 lead.
Sully Perkins made the score 28-6 as he took a reverse handoff 60 yards for the score in the opening seconds of the third quarter.
After the third takeaway by the Falcons defense, Nerdahl would score his fourth rushing touchdown on a 59-yard touchdown run to go up 35-6.
Nerdahl on his team’s performance, “I owe it all to my offensive line, and my receivers on the edge, they blocked tremendesouly, we had some issues early on defense, but we got on the same page later in the night and shut them down.”
Although the Rockets scored twice late, the final score stood at 35-22 as Amherst remains undefeated.
