The Amherst Falcons traveled to Clintonville to start their season against the Truckers in a matchup of two teams that had very different 2025 seasons, as Amherst went 10-2 and Clintonville finished 0-9.
Amherst immediately scored on their first play from scrimmage as Cal Lusic took a pitch 42 yards to the end zone and gave the Falcons a 7-0 lead.
Ayden Nerdahl, who scored 34 touchdowns last season, scored his first touchdown of the season as he took a handoff 14 yards to the end zone to put Amherst up 14-0.
It wouldn’t take long for Nerdahl to score his next touchdown as he scored from 17 yards out on a run that put the Falcons up 21-0.
Nerdahl’s third touchdown of the night came in the second quarter from 11 yards out as Amherst led 28-0.
The all-state running back kept up the scoring pace as Nerdahl scored his fourth straight touchdown this time on a 40-yard run to give the Falcons a 34-0 lead.
“We weren’t worried about Clintonville or anything they had to do; we were just focusing on our stuff, making sure we execute well, make sure we did our jobs. Younger guys got in at the end of the game, and we still expect a high level of football from them too,” Nerdahl said of his team’s expectations.
Cal Lusic scored his second touchdown of the game as quarterback Tyler Loken found him for a 15-yard touchdown pass, and Nerdahl scored on a two-point conversion with a run to make the score 42-0 with five minutes left in the second quarter.
Landon Austin came in to play quarterback for the Falcons in the second half and scored on a 10- yard touchdown run to make the score 49-0 in the third quarter.
A bad snap on a Clintonville punt gave Amherst the ball on their opponent’s one-yard line, and running back JC Bohman scored to give the Falcons a 56-0 lead.
The running clock came into play the rest of the way as Amherst got their first win of the season, and Clintonville starts the season 0-1.
