Amherst stays undefeated on the road

SPENCER- The Amherst Falcons took their undefeated (5-0) record and number two ranking on the road to face a 3-2 Spencer/Columbus Rockets team on Sept. 25 in a Central Wisconsin Conference showdown.

On the opening drive, Spencer/Columbus turned the ball over when a tipped pass became a 62-yard pick-six for Ayden Nerdahl, who scored his first touchdown of the game to put Amherst up 7-0.

In the second quarter, the Falcons pushed the score to 14-0, as Nerdahl scored on a 72-yard touchdown run.

Amherst extended the lead as quarterback Tyler Loken took off on a quarterback keeper, ran 75 yards to the end zone, and put the Falcons up 21-0.

On Spencer/Columbus ensuing drive, they were forced into a turnover on downs as they could not convert a fourth down. Amherst capitalized, as Nerdahl scored from five yards out for his third overall touchdown to go up 28-0.

Amherst went up 35-0 with 25 seconds left in the second quarter, as Loken scored his second rushing touchdown of the night.

Spaencer/Columbus scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter as the final score went to 35-7, with Amherst remaining undefeated at 6-0 and 3-0 in conference play.

Nerdahl finished with 100 yards rushing and three total touchdowns.
