Amherst volleyball earned a home win against the Shiocton Chiefs on September 23, taking the match in four sets.
In the first set, Amherst pulled ahead 17-13 after a strong kill secured their four-point advantage.
Sascha Gollon gave the Falcons a 23-20 lead with a serve that Shiocton could not return to force the Chiefs to take a timeout. Ivy Boelk delivered a kill that finished off the opening set 25-21.
Boelk on how she helped her team to a win, “Just doing everything to control what I can, obviously there’s going to be mistakes, volleyball’s a game of mistakes and doing what I can do to get as many points as possible and supporting my teammates through everything.”
Shiocton tied up the match 1-1 in the second set, as they won a back-and-forth match 25-22.
Amherst led 17-11 in the third set, but Shiocton narrowed the gap to 17-14.
The Falcons went on an 11-3 run that was capped off by a kill from Hollie Singer to make the final score of set three 25-17.
Amherst controlled the fourth and final set from the start, winning 25-11 to secure the match.
