Art show features premiere

Posted
This year's Waupaca Art Show starts with something new - an opening night premiere.

"There's never been an opening on Saturday before," said Lee Schultz. She and her husband Bill serve as co-chairs of the art show.

The art show, in its 48th year, always opens on a Sunday and closes on a Friday.

The opening night premiere will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at the Waupaca Expo.

It will feature appetizers served by the Waupaca Ale House, a cash bar and music by "3 Clowns/No Circus."

Free will donations taken at the door will be used to cover the expenses of the art show.

Schultz said Iota Photo will set up a photo booth and will donate its proceeds.

The middle school art show will also be ready for viewing. Those who attend the premiere will get a sneak peak at all of the art in this year's show and be able to purchase art that night.

Judging will take place the next day.

The show officially opens at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 1, with awards and the judges' critique taking place at 2:30 p.m. The show is open until 7 p.m.

Other show hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, May 2-5; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 6.
