It was all about chili on Saturday, Nov. 2 in Fremont.
The American Legion Auxiliary members of Unit 391 were busy making batches of chili and homemade pies for that day’s annual chili supper.
The Auxiliary’s mission and goal are "In the spirit of service, not self, to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military and their families at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security."
The chili supper has become a tradition many residents of Fremont and the surrounding area attend.
The proceeds support the veterans at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, the Legion Post 391 Veterans, scholarships, Badger Girls and community activities.
The Auxiliary extends its appreciation to the area merchants who donated items for the supper and raffle and to all who attended the event.
In addition, the organization reminds area residents Veteran’s Day will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 11 and asks them to honor those who have given much.
