Big boost for Eco Park

Posted

WAUPACA – Friends of Waupaca Parks donated $25,000 toward the enhancement of Eco Park. This contribution will fund the building of a natural playground, a plumbed bathroom, electricity for outdoor events, and an ADA-compliant pathway that will ensure Eco Park remains an accessible space for all.
“At Friends of Waupaca Parks, we believe in the power of parks to bring people together, inspire learning, and promote wellness,” said Roger Holman, President of Friends of Waupaca Parks. “Eco Park is already an incredible asset to our community, and we are excited to help take it to the next level with these much-needed improvements. This park is more than just a green space—it’s an outdoor classroom, a gathering place, and a haven for nature lovers of all ages. With these improvements, we are ensuring that Eco Park remains a vital part of our community for years to come. ”
Eco Park has been a place of gathering, recreation, and quiet reflection for about a decade. With the rapid growth of the River North community—including 200 new homes on the horizon—the need for an expanded and fully equipped park has never been greater. This donation will help transform Eco Park into a regional destination where families, educators, and nature lovers can connect and thrive.
Over the past few years, the city has made upgrades to the park, including an extended boardwalk path to the Waupaca River, a tree trek highlighting local flora, a story walk that encourages imagination, and a renovated amphitheater for community events.
The Friends of Waupaca Parks is a dedicated nonprofit organization that supports local parks and recreation initiatives through fundraising, advocacy, and volunteerism. donation is just the beginning. The organization encourages others in the community to contribute and be part of this transformation. Donations can be made at www.friendsofwaupacaparks.com.
