Buchholz elected clerk in Royalton

Debra Buchholz won the race for clerk in the town of Royalton in the April 2 election.

She received 131 votes, while Florence Tate received 51 votes.

Both were seeking to replace Nancy Timm, who is retiring after serving as Royalton's clerk for 28 years.

"I appreciate the support of all those who voted for me," Buchholz said. "I look forward to serving with the rest of the board."

Buchholz is a lifetime resident of Royalton and graduate of Weyauwega High School.

She is a coding auditing specialist at ThedaCare Physicians Weyauwega and also a member of the Weyauwega Fire Department.

Buchholz has worked at the clinic for about 10 years and has been on the fire department for 19 years.

"I was approached about running," she said. "I called Nancy (Timm), because I have a full-time job, and I'm not going to do something unless I'm able to do it."

During a discussion with Timm about what the clerk position entails, Buchholz believed she would be able to do it.

"I'm looking forward to serving and learning all the new things that will go with it," Buchholz said after being elected town clerk.

In addition to Buchholz, Duane Bork was re-elected chairman, Alvin Thiel was re-elected supervisor, and Patricia Craig was re-elected treasurer.

Also elected supervisor was Marlyn Ebert, replacing Gary Schafer on the board, who did not seek re-election this year after serving on the board since 1976.

The new town officials will be sworn in on April 16.
