Bulldog runner returning to state

New London Cross Country Captain Macy Egan accomplished a season goal - making it to state.

Egan posted a time of 15:33, placed 10th overall, and fifth as an individual at Nine Mile County Park, allowing her another trip to Wisconsin Rapids to compete at the State Cross Country course.

"I knew Wausau would be in it," said Egan when asked about her race. "I saw a purple jersey, knew it wasn't Wausau, and I had to pass her if I wanted to go to state." Egan did pass her. In fact, Egan moved from 15th place to 10th in the final half mile.

"She is one driven girl," said Coach DuVernay. "I was 600 out, and she was in 12th place. To pass with tired legs is really something special."

When asked about her preparation and the season Egan said, "I couldn't have done it without my running partner Annalise Schroeder and the rest of my team."

Macy Egan will compete in Wisconsin Rapids, on Saturday, Oct. 29.
