After coming up short in their season openers, the Waupaca and New London girls’ basketball teams met Nov. 18 looking for their first win.
It wasn’t pretty, but New London returned home following a 60-8 nonconference victory on the Comets’ home court.
The Bulldogs held Waupaca to five points in the first half and three in the second half.
Four players teamed up to score 47 of New London’s 60 points. Shelby Glodowski and Lizzie Steingraber led the way with 13 points each, while Paeton Kringel and Ryann Baker added 11 and 10, respectively.
Macie Studzinski led Waupaca with four points.
Both teams opened their season Nov. 16. Waupaca fell to Shawano 64-20 in Shawano, while New London hosted Mosinee and ended up on the short end of a 54-43 score. Kringel led the Bulldogs with 10 points and Mosinee’s Kate Fitzgerald led all scorers with 15.
Waupaca opened North Eastern Conference play Nov. 23 at home against Little Chute and will host Merrill at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30.
New London hosted Pulaski Nov. 22 and will host Fox Valley Lutheran at 6 p.m. Nov. 30.
