New London team ends season 0-8
By Scott Bellile
The New London football team didn’t find its win this season, falling to Freedom 50-7 in what was the Bulldogs’ last game until August next year.
The Bulldogs struggled to rush, recording minus-41 yards.
Freedom built up seven touchdowns and 50 points before New London’s fans got cheering. With 45 seconds left in the game, New London’s Hunter Zaddack crossed the end zone off a 15-yard pass from Jack Noffke.
Senior night ended on the sidelines for senior tailback and linebacker Jonah Backus, who exited the game due to an injury in the second quarter, after Freedom’s fourth touchdown.
Zaddack led in receiving with 106 yards. Noffke led in passing with nine of 21 successful attempts.
Players wore pink socks and armbands to help raise money for ThedaCare-New London’s cancer program in the Bulldogs’ annual “Bulldogs Blocking Breast Cancer” game.
