Waupaca
Waupaca’s Hometown Day Celebration is set for Friday, July 4, with a parade in the morning and fireworks at dusk over Shadow Lake.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and will travel North Main Street, from North Division Street to Lake Street.
The Trinity Lutheran Church float will collect canned food items during the parade for the Waupaca Area Food Pantry. Parade viewers may bring non-perishable food items.
Following the parade, the Waupaca Knights of Columbus will have its annual chicken barbecue in Upper South Park, serving chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, soda and beer. Drive-through pickup will be available.
The Popcorn Wagon will be in Lower South Park before and during the fireworks, serving soda, nachos, popcorn and cotton candy.
The Humane Society of Waupaca County will also be in South Park, holding a celebrity pie-in-the-face contest.
At 6:30 p.m., the Chain Skiers will perform on Rainbow Lake, with viewing available at the Wisconsin Veteran Home at King’s Marden Center.
The fireworks show will start over Shadow Lake at 9:30 p.m. Tune the radio to WDUX FM 92.7 for patriotic music during the show.
Lakeside Parkway, from High Street to the recycling center, will be open only to emergency vehicles from 7-11 p.m. with pedestrian viewing on the walking trail but not on the roadway.
People should bring their lawn chairs to enjoy the show.
Parking for the fireworks will be available in the Waupaca Recycling Center, organized by the Waupaca International Cultural Exchange Committee with a free will donation.
New London
A fireworks display returns to Hatten Stadium in New London on Friday, July 4. This year’s huge aerial and ground display of fireworks will be launched from Cottrill Field inside the stadium.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free.
Music by the Deyz and free children’s games begin at 6 p.m.
Food and refreshments will be available at the concession stand. Proceeds from the concession stand benefit the Hatten Stadium Foundation.
Clintonville
Clintonville will celebrate the Fourth of July on Thursday, July 3, at W.A. Olen Athletic Field.
A fireworks display will be at dusk. Festivities preceding the fireworks include a youth baseball game, live music and a raffle. Refreshments are available and there is no admission charge.
Weyauwega
In Weyauwega, the holiday will be celebrated on Thursday, July 3, at the Waupaca County Fairgrounds.
This year’s fireworks will feature free, live music from the local band Third Wheel.
The music will start around 7 p.m., with the fireworks to follow at dusk.
People are invited to bring their own food and refreshments and enjoy a picnic and the fireworks show at the fairgrounds.
Fremont
On Friday, July 4, the annual Kiddie Parade will take place at 10 a.m. Registration will take place at 9 a.m., across from Premier Community Bank. The parade will go down Wolf River Drive.
Iola
The annual fireworks celebration will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3, in Taylor Park.
The event will include ball games, food and refreshments, with fireworks at dusk.
The I-S 10 U boy’s baseball team will play against Amherst at 5:30 p.m.
There will also be an Iola versus Scandinavia fireman’s softball game and kickball prior to the fireworks.
A cash raffle will offer more than $3,000 in prizes.
Manawa
Manawa’s fireworks are scheduled for 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, on the rodeo grounds.
