Charity skiers brave the cold

Forgoing a warm cozy kitchen smelling of slow-roasted turkey, 16 water-skiers took to the ice-cold water of the Wolf River for the Thanksgiving Day Ski Plunge hosted by Fort Fremont Marine.

The Webfooters Water Ski Show Team, Mercuty Marine and Roswell Marine also supported the event. Skiers dressed as Santa Claus, the Grinch, a Christmas maiden and a Badger football player made appearances on the water. Others wore wetsuits.

They raised $1,500 for the American Legion in Fremont.

“We had a fun Thanksgiving morning filled with laughter and warm thoughts,” said Sage Trumbower, marketing specialist at Fort Fremont Marine.
