An 89-year-old Clintonville man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 45 Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 4:48 p.m. Marion police responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 45 near the Wisconsin DOT wayside.
An 89-year-old Clintonville man exited the wayside and made a left turn onto U.S. 45 and proceeded northbound in the southbound lanes. He collided with a 33-year-old Shiocton man and his 26-year-old male passenger who were southbound on U.S. 45.
The 89-year-old man and the 26-year-old Freedom man in the other vehicle had to be extricated by the Marion Area Fire Department.
The Clintonville man was flown from the scene of the crash and taken to Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. The other two men were transported by ambulance to the Thedacare Medical Center-New London.
At approximately 10 p.m. the Marion Police Department was notified that the 89-year-old man had succumbed to his injuries and died.
The othe two men are hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
A crash reconstruction was completed by the Wisconsin State Patrol. The crash remains under investigation and names are being withheld at this time pending notification of families.
