Clintonville Truckers softball took on the visiting Shiocton Chiefs in their home opener on April 4th and got the early season victory.
Rainna Miller got the Truckers on the board first as she knocked in a run to bring in Ava Kasson for a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Both teams were held scoreless until the sixth inning when the Truckers jumpstarted their offense with an RBI by Kasson.
A single by Kelsey Maus brought in the second run of the inning to make it 3-0. Kasson came in to score to give the Truckers a 4-0 lead after an errant throw by Shiocton.
Abby Tate hit a double to bring in a runner, and Kasson scored her second run to give the Truckers a 6-0 lead at the end of the sixth inning.
The Chiefs attempted to rally as Mallory and Morgan Oskey drove in back-to-back runs to make the deficit 6-2.
A wild pitch by Clintonville brought in a third run for Shiocton. The Chiefs would fall short in their comeback as the Truckers clinched the 6-3 victory.
