Clintonville woman charged with felony OWI

Posted
WAUPACA - A drunken driving charge filed last summer against a 30-year-old Clintonville woman was amended Feb. 4 to a felony offense.

On May 4, 2010, Amie L. Sanderfoot appeared in court and was charged with a third offense of operating while intoxicated and with operating after revocation. She was released on a $1,000 signature bond with the conditions that she not operate a vehicle in the state of Wisconsin and that she not operate a vehicle with any alcohol in her system.

At 1:38 a.m. July 4, 2010, Clintonville Police Officer Matthew Wright saw what appeared to be Sanderfoot's vehicle on Greentree Road. Since he knew her license had been revoked earlier, Wright stopped the vehicle.

Wright reported smelling alcohol and took Sanderfoot into custody. She registered 0.24 blood-alcohol level on a preliminary breath test, according to the criminal complaint.

Sanderfoot was charged later that day with a misdemeanor drunken driving offense.

On Jan. 31, she entered a guilty plea to a third offense of OWI. Now with three drunken driving convictions on her record, Sanderfoot's July 4 arrest would be for a fourth OWI, which is a felony offense under Wisconsin law.

She faces up to six years in prison if convicted of felony drunken driving.
