Clippers rally falls short

Posted

The New London Clippers went on the road to face the Kaukauna Angels on July 16 in American Legion play.

Both teams were held scoreless until the sixth inning as Brett Marquardt scored on a fielder’s choice to give the Clippers a 1-0 lead.

The Angels tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth as a batter was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded that brought a runner home to score.

Kaukauna scored two more runs in the inning, including an RBI on a sacrifice fly that gave the Angels a 3-1 lead.

New London scored on a wild pitch as runner crossed home plate in the top of the seventh inning, but the Clippers could not muster another run as they fell 3-2.
