Clippers rally in sixth inning to get victory

The New London Clippers took on the American Legion team of Seymour on July 10 at home.

Seymour took the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, as Ryan VanHandel singled on a line drive to right field to drive in a run.

Caden Steffens made the lead 2-0 as he hit a ground ball and reached on an error.

Owen Linsmeyer made the score 3-0 in Seymour’s favor in the third inning with an RBI double.

In the fourth inning, Seymour continued to rack up runs as Brayden Banker hit an RBI single and a bases-loaded walk made the score 5-0.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, New London scored their first run as they scored on a fielder’s choice.

Seymour got their run back in the sixth inning, as Baker doubled to drive in a run to take a 6-1 lead.

New London began to show life in the bottom of the sixth inning as a runner scored on a passed ball.

Dane Meyer drove in a run on an RBI single, and two runners scored on an error to make the deficit 6-5.

A three-run triple by Cale Adamovich gave New London the lead as they went up 8-6, and a fly out to center field drove in a run, making the score 9-6 to end the sixth inning.

The Clippers shut down Seymour at the plate in the seventh inning to cap off the 9-6 comeback victory.
