Comets fall to Preble, Ripon

Preble handed the Comets a 49-28 nonconference loss Jan. 17, while Ripon beat Waupaca 81-62 Jan. 15 in a matchup of Eastern Valley Conference teams.

GREEN BAY – The Hornets held the Comets to 15 points over the first three quarters. Preble led 12-8 after one quarter, 26-13 at halftime and 39-15 after three quarters before Waupaca outscored the home team 14-9 in the fourth quarter.

Max Hansen led Waupaca with 12 points and the Hornets also held Brando Vasquez scoreless.

Ripon 81, Waupaca 62

WAUPACA – Eddie Muench's team-high 24 points that included six three-pointers helped Ripon knock off the Comets.

Ripon led 26-11 after one quarter and 46-25 at halftime, but Waupaca outscored the visitors 37-35 in the second half.

Vasquez scored 24 points for Waupaca, while Luke Loewe added 21 for the Tigers.

Waupaca opened a two-game home stand Jan. 20 against Appleton Xavier and the Comets will also host Fox Valley Lutheran at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29.
